FSFAI
CARES is about caring for
our Florist and our Community.
Inspired by Ann Martin AIFD, the first recipient of the FSFA Humanitarian Award and the person responsible for founding the AIFD Foundation Florida Florist Fund,
Past President Deborah De La Flor established the FSFA
Cares Program in 2018.
Ann, with the help of many FSFA members raised over $100,000 to help Florida florists who
could not pay medical bills or were affected by a catastrophic event.

The purpose of the FSFAI
Cares Program is to bring awareness of members of the State Association who work with their local non-profits.
Many of the FSFA members work behind the scenes tirelessly helping those in need, the underprivileged and volunteering their time to spread smiles with the gift of flowers.
In October 2019, FSFAI partnered with the Sunshine Foundation in Davenport, Florida.
The Sunshine Foundation grants dreams for children ages 3 to 18 who are chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged, or affected by abuse, and whose families are unable to fulfill those dreams because of financial hardship related to the child’s illness.
One of the Foundation’s most requested dreams is a trip to Orlando to visit Disney World or other area theme parks. The Sunshine Foundation transports families to its Dream Village in Davenport, provides lodging, and supplies theme park tickets.
Since 1976, more than 20,000 children have seen their dreams come true.
With support from vendor partners, FSFAI provided the centerpieces for the Sunshine Foundation’s 10th Annual Gala. FSFA International has continued to do so each year since then.
FSFAI is proud to play a small role in this meaningful event, knowing that somewhere, a child’s dream would come true.

Since the inception of FSFAI
Cares, over $40,000 had been raised to help our members
who have been affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes.

If you or someone you know in the floral industry, gives of their time to their community, we want to know about it.
We can help promote your community efforts.

New for 2026 The Designer of the Year Prize Money Fund |
Jackie Lacey AAF AIFD CFD PFCI | FSFA International would like to thank Jackie Lacey AAF AIFD CFD PFCI for sponsoring the prize money for this year’s Designer of the Year 2026 Competition. As a former competitor in the DOY and many other competitions, Jackie understands the value of floral design contests. They push designers to improve their skills, boost confidence, and create lifelong friendships with fellow competitors. The process becomes a shared learning experience. To keep the DOY Competition thriving, Jackie has challenged past competitors and all supporters of education to help build a fund within FSFA International, ensuring we can finance prize money ourselves without always relying on vendor sponsors. Will you accept the challenge? |
