This Competition is intended as an interpretive competition for accredited FSMD designers.  Each year the committee will choose the theme.  There will be only one winner.  The competition will be held in conjunction with the annual convention

Rules & Guidelines

The entry fee is $ 25.00 and is non-refundable.

Each contestant must be a member of FSFA in good standing or employed by a member shop and accredited as FSMD.

All designs must be contained on the 60’ round table provided by FSFA.
 
Each designer will have 2 hours to prep, design and clean up.

All work must be assembled on site.  Preparation of props may be done in advance, however, all floral material, fresh, silk, or dried (including plant material) must be completed on site during the allotted time.  

Each designer must provide all materials, props, linens, supplies and tools needed to complete their display. Sharing, trading or borrowing during the competition is not allowed and is cause for disqualification.

The use of power is not allowed.  If a water feature is used and a leak occurs the contestant will be disqualified and any damage to hotel property is the responsibility of the contestant.

Each design will be judged by 3 or more accredited designers.  Each judge will be assigned and identified by a number.  Judges will not be allowed access during the competition.  Designs will be scored on the following categories, Interpretation, creativity, scale, unity, balance, focal emphases, line, depth, color and texture. Each category is worth a maximum of 10 points, for a total possible score of 100.  

In the event there are less than 3 contestants at the published deadline, the competition will not take place. The two contests will be notified immediately. If a registered contestant does not show at the time of the competition, resulting in less than 3 contestants, the competition will take place.
