Congratulations to Deborah De La Flor AIFD, CFD, PFCI
Sunshine Cup Winner 2010
Thank you to Teleflora for sponsoring this competition for 2010

This competition is an interpretive competition for skilled designers. It is based on the arts and humanities.  Each year the Competition committee chooses the “art” that the designers will interpret.  There will be only one winner.  The competition will be held in conjunction with the annual convention.

The entry fee is $50.00 and is non-refundable.

Contestants must be a member of FSFA or employed by a member shop in good standing.

After the contestant pays their entry fee, they will receive in advance of the competition, a copy of the rules, a sample score sheet and a copy of the art that is to be interpreted.

Each contestant will prepare a typed narrative of their interpretation on heavy letter sized paper stock to be placed somewhere conspicuous within their design.

All designs must be contained in the 4’ wide by 4’ deep by 7’ high space marked by the contest committee.  This space must not be next to a wall or any partitions.

The contestants will have 30 minutes for prep work and 2 hours to complete their design.  This includes cleanup.

All work must be put together on site.  Preparation of props may be done in advance.  All floral, fresh, silk, dried and plant material, must be completed on site during the predetermined time slot.

No design will consist of more than 10% silk or dried material.

Each designer must provide all materials, props, tools and supplies for their composition. FSFA will only provide the space.

No trading, sharing or borrowing will be allowed.  Doing so will result in disqualification.

Any contestant needing the use of power is advised that availability may be an issue, and charges incurred for its use is the contestant’s responsibility.  If a water feature is constructed and a leak occurs, the contestant is disqualified and is responsible for any damages.

Each design will be judged by 3 or more accredited designers.  Each judge will be assigned and identified by a number.  Judges will not be allowed access during the competition.  Designs will be scored on the following categories with their respective maximum points:  Interpretation (30), Creativity (30), Scale, Unity, Balance, Focal Emphases, Line, Depth, Color and Texture, 5 points each. The Maximum total points are 100.

In the event there are less than 3 contestants by the published deadline, the competition will not take place.  The other two contestants will be notified immediately.  Should a registered contestant not show at the time of the competition causing less than three contestants, the competition will continue.
